Every box

What's in the box

Groceries change with the season and with what our food bank partners have that week, so no two boxes are quite the same.

Fresh broccoli, eggplant, pineapple, beets and green tomatoes packed close together in a box

Fresh produce Vegetables and fruit that change with what's in season.

A box packed with rice, pasta, and tinned beans and corn

Pantry staples Rice, pasta, tinned goods and other store cupboard food.

A carton of milk, a loaf of bread and a carton of eggs set on top of packed boxes

What arrives changes week to week. This is a typical run.

How it started

One delivery in April 2020

YANA began as a single pandemic delivery to 600 families. People kept asking, and neighbors kept showing up to drive. Today it runs every week, loaded and delivered by volunteers.

A large crowd of YANA volunteers gathered in a mosque car park with their hands raised, ready for a delivery morning

Pick a day and a city. Most shifts are a few hours in the morning.

Tuesday 8:45 – 11:00 AM Concord
Wednesday 8:45 AM – 1:30 PM Oakland
Wednesday 8:45 – 9:45 AM Richmond
Thursday 8:45 – 10:00 AM Walnut Creek
Friday 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Antioch, Brentwood, Richmond, Walnut Creek, Oakland, Fremont, Hayward, Newark, Modesto
Saturday 8:30 – 11:00 AM Santa Clara County

These are delivery days, not hub locations. We load up at 11 hubs and deliver into 25+ cities across 7 counties, so several cities here are places boxes go rather than places they start from. See the 11 hubs.
